Today’s adventures included a new hiking trail and shopping.
We started the day in Davidson (the town where the NC Walk to Cure Arthritis is held).  We actually started the day planning on walking along the West Branch Rocky River Greenway which is a paved 1 mile, one direction walk (next to a neighborhood of multi-million dollar homes-not kidding!😳).

But, we quickly discovered the an unpaved trail in the West Branch Nature Preserve and had way more fun!

We added another two and a half miles to our 100 mile challenge.

It was a nice little trail through the woods that ran around the parimeter of a swampy marsh.  We saw some interesting sites and even a few animals.  Supposedly there is a beaver dam as well, but I'm not entirely convinced we ever saw it.
There were several benches along the trail.  All were dedicated to someone.  Usually someone who had made the preserve possible.  But my favorite was this one:
We would have had fun on the greenway, but this trail was way more our style!
After our hike we went back into Davidson proper and grabbed some lunch at the original Famous Toastry followed by a quick trip through The Village Store, the cutest little shoppe we discovered back on our November visit. We didn’t buy anything today but it was truly because of great restraint. So many fun and cute things in that store.
We finished the day with a visit to 2nd and Charles in Charlotte. It’s a new/used book store we first learned about back in MI in Auburn Hills. Turns out we have two within 45 minutes of our new home. The girls walked away with a nice pile of new reading material. Sure do love their passion for reading!
It must have been a good trip:
